There is no better way to test out a new camera than taking it on vacation with you. For my latest trip to Las Vegas, I decided to put the Canon EOS Rebel T8i / EOS 850D through its paces. With built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, I was able to easily transfer my photos and videos to my smartphone for quick editing and sharing on social media. The Canon Camera Connect app made this process seamless, allowing me to remotely control the camera, adjust settings, and even use my phone as a live view monitor.

Battery Life

Battery life is always a concern when traveling, as you never want to miss a great shot due to a dead battery. The EOS Rebel T8i / EOS 850D uses the LP-E17 battery, which is rated for approximately 800 shots per charge. I found this to be more than enough for a full day of shooting, even with the occasional use of the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
During my time in Las Vegas, I never had to worry about running out of battery power, and I didn’t need to carry a spare with me. However, for those who plan to shoot extensively or use the camera’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features frequently, carrying a spare battery might be a good idea.

Conclusion

After spending a week in Las Vegas with the Canon EOS Rebel T8i / EOS 850D as my travel companion, I can confidently say that it’s a fantastic camera for vacation photography. Its compact size and lightweight design made it a joy to carry around, while the impressive image quality, 4K video capabilities, and useful features ensured that I captured every memorable moment of my trip.
While the camera does have a few limitations, such as the lack of dual-pixel autofocus in 4K video mode, the overall performance and features more than make up for these drawbacks.
